The Barracks, Charlottesville, VA
The Barracks is an “A” horse show farm located in Charlottesville, Virginia. Owned and operated by the Bishop family since 1973, The Barracks in Charlottesville specializes in boarding, training, selling, and showing hunters, jumpers, and equitation horses and welcome new clients of all levels – from beginners to serious show competitors. Riders at the Barracks also enjoy hunting with the Farmington Hunt Club in Albemarle County during hunt season. The Barracks is home to Virginia Riding, UVA’s equestrian team, founded in 1976. As a club sport, the riding team competes in affiliation with the Club Sports association in Zone 4 Region 2 of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA). Garnering many accolades over the years, the team is a solid competitive force.
